On November 9, the Donetsk Center for Slavic Culture in Donetsk hosted a celebratory event, dedicated to the upcoming DPR Police and Internal Affairs Servicemen’s Day. As the correspondent of the official website of the DPR reports, the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin congratulated law enforcement officers on the upcoming professional holiday.

The Head of State presented the Banner of the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is the embodiment of honour and dignity, glory and and dedication to duty of the law enforcement officials, as an official symbol and relic to the Minister of the Interior, Police Colonel General Alexei Diky.

“Employees of internal affairs bodies at all times stay on guard of the rights and freedoms of citizens, providing them with the opportunity to live and work. And the law enforcement service is far more dangerous and demanding in our complicated conditions. For each of you, this is not just a profession, but fate. And you proved it five years ago, when you remained faithful to duty and honour, when you shouldered the responsibility for exercising the powers conferred on you,” the Head of the DPR said.

Denis Pushilin noted that today the society makes very high demands on police officers.

“A person in a police uniform represents power and law. But this is not enough. This person still has to personify justice! Trust can be earned and preserved at a high level only through a responsible attitude to the cause, attention to everyone else’s problems, and most importantly, through competent and professional work. I am sure that you will cope with this task,” the Head of the Republic emphasized.

He congratulated the veterans of the internal affairs bodies on the occasion and thanked them for their faithful service and the transfer of their experience and knowledge to the younger generation.

“Your guidance is the basis for the further work of young law enforcement officers. The dedication and personal courage of the employees of the internal affairs bodies deserve commendation. Today, on your holiday and first jubilee, the best of the best will be promoted with the state awards, and it is a great honour for me to personally award them,” Denis Pushilin said.

The Head of the DPR presented state awards to eleven internal affairs officials of the Republic. Four of them were awarded posthumously.

“Unfortunately, your service comes at a bitter price. We honour them posthumously. They deserved rewards and recognition at the cost of their own lives,” Denis Pushilin said.

As will be recalled, according to the Decree of the Head of the DPR, the DPR Police and Internal Affairs Servicemen’s Day is celebrated annually on November
