A compilation of analytics data entitled “The Armed Conflict in Donbass”, which contains the evidence of war crimes committed by the army and nationalist battalions of Ukraine, was presented to the public in Donetsk on November 28. According to a correspondent of the DPR official website, the book numbering over 360 pages describes the causes of the emergence of the Ukrainian nationalism and the results of social activists’ investigation into the most high-profile attacks on Donetsk and Gorlovka by AFU artillery, it also tells about the cases when the Ukrainian army used heavy weapons, including Tochka U missiles, against the civilian population of Donbass.

“This book is the outcome of a great deal of work done by activists of the Fair Defense NGO. The compilation contains data that allow getting an insight into the specific features of the war crimes committed by Ukraine during the armed conflict in Donbass, it also allows us to understand the causes of its occurrence better,” deputy chairman of the Fair Defense NGO’s board Ivan Kopyl claims.

The compilation consists of three chapters. The first one contains reports made by Donetsk and Lugansk human rights defenders, which they read out at various venues, including international ones. “The Ukrainian ideology has been making heroes out of criminals for several years, which served as a basis for the active evolvement of the Ukrainian nationalism,” Ivan Kopyl noted.

Therefore, activists of the Fair Defense NGO included a series of historical articles in the second chapter of the book. They provide the point of view of the residents of Donbass on the nature of the Ukrainian nationalism.

The third chapter of the analytics compilation presents the results of investigations conducted by public activists, which describe in detail the most high-profile cases when the AFU artillery shelled civilians in Donbass. “We believe that the war criminals must be inevitably punished for their crimes and we call on all relevant authorities to use the material of our book to prosecute the criminals,” Ivan Kopyl stressed.

According to Rinat Aygistov, a representative of the DPR People’s Militia Directorate, more than 15,000 civilians from the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics have been affected by the war during the five years of the armed conflict in Donbass. “The people responsible for this must be punished! With the help of such compilations, we hope that the international community will hold accountable all those involved in these war crimes,” he said.

Also today, they once again presented to the public a photo album entitled “War From the Eyes of the Donbass Children” in Donetsk.

Ivan Kopyl said that a part of the print-run of the Armed Conflict in Donbass analytics compilation had already become publicly available in the Donetsk Republic Universal Research Library named after Krupskaya and other libraries of the Republic. The books will also be handed over to UN Mission officials, the OSCE, the International Committee of the Red Cross and Commissioners for Human Rights of various countries, including Ukraine, if possible.
