Today, on December 2, in Donetsk there was held an open republican comprehensive sports event for physically disabled people, dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. According to the correspondent of the DPR official website, about 150 athletes from almost all cities of the Republic came to participate in the event.
“The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism, in cooperation with the Republican Center for Adaptive Physical Education and Sports, holds a yearly comprehensive sports event for people with impaired functionality. This year, we decided to combine this with some kind of passing the GTO [Ready for Labor and Defense] standards,” Tatiana Malysh, Head of the Department for Physical Culture and Tourism of the DPR Sports Ministry, said.
She also added that such events are held regularly in all sports. Athletes from the DPR also travel to the LPR and the Russian Federation.
For his part, a DPR People’s Council deputy, Yulia Mikhailova, presented gifts to all participants and stated her support.
