Statements by the Ukrainian President, who still can’t come to terms with the true meaning of the Package of Measures, are in their essence nothing more than another attempt to revise the Minsk agreements and renegotiate them in a way that is beneficial to the Ukrainian authorities, DPR Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova stated.

“Kiev will anyway have to accept the fact that before the elections are held in Donbass there should be carry out a huge amount of joint work with representatives of the Republics on the implementation of the Minsk agreements. In particular, the law on the special status of Donbass should be enforced, taking into account all the amendments to it, necessary and agreed upon with representatives of the Republics, a constitutional reform should be implemented to secure a special status in strict compliance with the Package of Measures, at the legal level there should be elaborated and adopted modalities of prevention of persecution of the participants in the Donbass events, and many other things.

Any additional requirements put forward by Kiev have nothing to do with the reality as neither representatives of the Republics, nor mediators of the Minsk process, nor its guarantors will allow the revision of the Package of Measures approved by the UN Security Council and having the status of a binding international legal act.

Once again, we draw the attention of the Ukrainian authorities to the fact that they have no rights to put forward their conditions as absolutely all steps concerning the fate of Donbass must comply with the Minsk agreements and be agreed with the Republics. If the Ukrainian leadership wants to speed up the elections, which is actually the final political issues, then it’s better to stop making irresponsible, loud and completely unfounded statements and proceed to constructive activities as in fulfilling its obligations under the Package of Measures,” Natalya Nikonorova said.
