Beginning on January 1, 2020, salaries of public sector employees will have been increased by 26% and pensions by 20%, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin announced today, on December 18.

“The expansion of the economic sector is ongoing in the Republic, new outlets for the sale of products are emerging, and the budget revenues are increasing accordingly. Thanks to this, the salaries of public sector employees, including medical workers, teachers and social workers, will have been increased by 26% starting January 2020.

In addition, the amount of pensions will have been increased by 20% for each pensioner. This will be the fifth increase in pension payments in the Republic, which I consider an achievement despite all the challenges we have encountered due to the war, non-recognition and blockade.

At this stage, the increase in pensions will be the same for all, and if a person now receives, for example, 4,000 rubles, then starting January 1, 2020 the amount of his pension will have been 4,800 rubles. Let me remind you that in 2015, the minimum pension was about 1.900 rubles. Over the past five years, we have managed to increase this amount more than twice.

Moreover, it is planned to increase social benefits and allowances to varying amounts,” Denis Pushilin said.
