Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin attended the 66th PROFC Mixed Martial Arts Tournament, which was held on December 22 in Rostov-on-Don, the Russian Federation, the press service of the Office of the Head of the Republic reports.

Alexey Muratov, Head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement, and Kirill Makarov, Deputy Head of the DPR People’s Council, also came to support the sportsmen.

Spectacular matches that took place in the City Sports Palace brought together MMA fighters from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Donetsk People’s Republic and Brazil. The tournament was organized by the Veles Sports Club and the Russian PROFC league.

The total of 11 matches were held during the Tournament. During the main match of the night, Alexander Shabliy from Russia competed with Brazilian rival Alexander Zidade. Following the results of the three rounds, the competitor from Rostov, President of the PROFC League Alexander Shabliy won the match.

The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic came out to the octagon to congratulate the winner of the final match.

“Today we saw bright, spectacular matches! Everything was at the highest level. There were winners and losers, but there were definitely no weak ones! Well done, everyone! I want to thank the DPR team, the guys have properly represented the Republic,” Denis Pushilin said.

The Donetsk People’s Republic was represented at the tournament by five sportsmen: Dmitry Matviyenko, Andrey Bragovsky, Alexander Podlesny, Sergey Prokopyuk and Renat Latifov. Each of them demonstrated a decent training level and perfect technique. Members of the Veles Sports Club Artyom Bragovsky, Alexander Podlesny and Renat Latifov won a landslide victory over the competitors by knocking them out during the matches.

Irina Alexeyeva from Russia and Lilia Kazak from Belarus, who won by unanimous decision of the jury, also demonstrated their skills in the octagon.

As will be recalled, such mixed martial arts tournaments are also held in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Russian sportsman Vladimir Mineyev won an unconditional victory at the competition that took place on September 27 of this year with the support of the Head of the Republic.
