During the New Year holidays and during the winter school holidays, theater and concert organizations, museums and libraries under the jurisdiction of the DPR Ministry of Culture conducted about 700 festive events for children. Over 127 thousand people visited them, chief of the DPR Culture Ministry’s Department for Arts and International Relations Natalya Kamynina reported during a briefing in Donetsk on January 15.

“Between December 24 and 29, Donbass Opera hosted a Big New Year’s Tree event under the auspices of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, during which the theater premiered a musical fairy tale called “New Year’s Adventures”. Ten charity performances became a pleasant gift for almost 8 thousand children from all over the Republic,” she said.

In addition, during the New Year holidays, the Opera and Ballet Theater performed the following plays: The Nutcracker, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, The Frog Princess, Twelve Months, which more than 23 thousand people visited. And before the start of each of these performances, a Christmas party featuring Russian Santa, the Snow Maiden and their friends was arranged for the young spectators by a fresh Christmas tree.

During this period, more than 80 New Year’s events took place at Mark Brovun Donetsk State Academic Music and Drama Theater, including 5 charity events. Two premiere fairy tales were specially organized for the young spectators: The Snow Queen and La Freccia Azzurra. About 40 thousand people saw them.

The Donetsk Republic Academic Theater of Young Spectators hosted a New Year’s performance “The Theater Christmas Tree-2020” featuring a New Year’s matinee and the premiere of the Nutcracker play. The Donetsk Republic Academic Puppet Theater pleased the kids with various performances.

“Concert organizations prepared premiere programs for young spectators. The Donetsk State Academic Philharmonic hosted 45 events, among them: “Russian Santa’s Musical Residence”, “New Year’s Disco”, “The Nutcracker that We All Know”, “The Secret of the Snow Queen” and others. About 30 events were held by the Donbass Honored State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble featuring an original theatrical musical performance “New Year’s Party,” Natalya Kamynina noted.

She also reported that between December 20 and January 12, the Donetsk Circus Kosmos hosted 20 performances as part of the show “New Year’s Tree in the Circus” featuring performers from the Russian State Circus Company, Nikulin Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, and circus artists of our Republic. More than 15.5 thousand spectators attended these performances, more than a thousand of whom were from benefit-entitled categories.

During the school holidays, the Republic House of Folk Arts and Cinema organized a screening of children’s art and animated films. About 50 events were held in republic libraries.

Between December 18 and January 12, the Donetsk Republic Art Museum hosted events as part of the New Year’s program “Museum Fairytale”, and a quest called “New Year’s Adventures of a Fairy Patrol” was conducted for children featuring a students’ experimental theater team from Donetsk State Music Academy.

During the winter holidays, the Donetsk Republic Museum of Local Lore hosted tours at the exhibition “New Year’s Journey”, master classes in making pop-up greeting cards, and interactive classes. The Military History Museum of the Great Patriotic War hosted a theatrical tour “New Year’s at the Front” and an interactive class “New Year’s Dugout” for schoolchildren. Over 4 thousand people, including residents and guests of the DPR capital, attended more than 300 shows, tours and interactive classes.
