The first this year’s meeting of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for the Settlement of the Situation in Donbass took place on January 29. Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR Daria Morozova commented on the outcome of the meeting.

“The subgroup meeting began with the news from OSCE coordinator in the Contact Group Tony Frisch that the representative of Ukraine will no longer participate in the Minsk process for certain reasons. The issue of who will represent Ukraine in the future is being decided. I hope that the situation will become clear in the shortest time, and the working process will be launched as soon as possible,” the Ombudsperson noted.

According to Morozova, despite the absence of Kiev’s official representative, at a meeting of the subgroup by the parties there were discussed issues related to the location and identification of the detainees. During the meeting there was reached an agreement on the parties’ transfer of roadmaps on the mechanism for searching for missing persons at the next meeting.

“I would like to emphasize that the swap, which took place on 29 December, 2019 will be considered completed only after the procedural cleaning of previously detained persons is over. Any activities on new swaps are out of question until this paragraph is implemented. Only the full compliance with all the agreements reached will enable participants in the process to move from theory to practical work as soon as possible,” the Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR stated.
