Residents of Lenina Street, located in the village of Telmanovo, have drawn up claims to be filed with the European Court of Human Rights, seeking from Ukraine reimbursement of the damage received during the hostilities, the Chairperson of the Public Commission for the Assessment of Economic Damage Caused by Ukraine, Anastasia Butorkina, reports.

“Today, a meeting of the Commission took place, at which applications of residents of the Lenin street of Telmanovo urban-type locality were considered. More than 800 private residential buildings sustained damage of various severity in the Telmanovsky district during the hostilities. Telmanovo village, in particular, Lenina Street, at which 602 persons had lived in 256 private residential buildings before the outbreak of hostilities, became one of the damaged localities,” Butorkina said.

According to her, 51 residential buildings have been destroyed in this street since 2014: 2 houses have suffered significant damage — load-bearing walls, roofing, ceilings, windows, doors, and electricity supply system have been damaged; 49 houses have suffered partial destruction — roofing, walls and windows have been damaged.

“To date, at Lenina Street there are living 317 persons who will file claims against Ukraine with the European Court of Human Rights. According to experts, the overall damage caused to the territorial community of Telmanovo village and residents of houses at Lenina Street totals approximately 27.5 million rubles,” the Public Commission’s Chairperson said.

As will be recalled, the Public Commission for the Assessment of Economic Damage Caused by Ukraine was established in Donetsk in early November 2019. Such a decision was made by an initiative group of DPR and LPR residents at a public meeting. The commission includes 19 persons.
