In an exclusive interview with a correspondent of the Official Website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, DPR Minister of Culture Mikhail Zheltyakov spoke about the connection between culture and ideology.

According to him, culture should not in any way be aggressive and negative, it should be gentle, truthful and loved by people.

“Today, culture needs to be in focus, because it is a kind of ideology. A very important cultural aspect is fostering patriotism among young people, which manifests itself in the admiration for the mother tongue, songs, dances, history and the Motherland as a whole.

Patriotism should be present in every work of art or cultural event, however, it should not be intrusive,” Mikhail Zheltyakov emphasized.

He also noted that low-quality films, books, slang, exhibitions of a certain kind, which serve as a way of supplanting out true human values, are decomposing the culture of modern society.

“There was a certain cultural education in the times of the Soviet Union, but Western ideology has supplanted all this, destroying the USSR and eliminating the movements of pioneers and Komsomol members, thereby replacing human values and destroying the polite and benevolent attitude of our people towards each other,” the DPR Minister of Culture added.
