On February 22, in advance of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Zvezdochka Movie Theatre hosted the premiere screening of a new documentary by famous war correspondent Semyon Pegov, The Code Name Donetsk. History of the Debaltsevo Pocket, dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Uglegorsk-Debaltsevo offensive operation of the DPR Armed Forces and the liberation of Debaltsevo. According to the correspondent of the Official Website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin visited the screening of the film.

“I am very glad that Semyon Pegov, our friend, comrade and brother, continues to work with his team. This is not his first film, and I’m sure it is not the last one. And I know for sure that we need this. We have seen many things with our own eyes, we can still see many things, but it is important that these newsreels are preserved for future generations.

On the screen we have once again seen the feats of our fellows, who just went and did this no matter what, regardless of the result. They were tasked by the first Head of the Republic to do so! And they did this!

I would like to again thank those who worked on this film. And, of course, I bow low to all those who fought and keep fighting for their land. For the Donetsk People’s Republic, for the Lugansk People’s Republic and for our Russia as a whole!” Denis Pushilin shared his impressions.

“There is already a good tradition when it comes to the presentation of our new film — it is a success among young and old. And in Debaltsevo there was a special operation, a common feat and a common victory which is worth a lot,” film director and military correspondent Semyon Pegov said.

“Without a doubt, we should speak, write about and show these events, which played a huge role in the history of our Republic, over and over again. Moreover, it was then, in the most difficult conditions, that we demonstrated our strength, skill and coordinated actions of the two armies and the ability to defeat any enemy,” Lieutenant General Vladimir Kononov, the Hero of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the DPR Defense Ministry Head in the days of the Debaltsevo operation, said.

As part of the premiere, famous Russian singer Yulia Chicherina performed in Donetsk her own Dobrovolcheskaya song [“Volunteer”], which became a soundtrack to the film.
