DPR Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova issued a statement regarding the rhetoric by the Ukrainian President about his readiness to withdraw from the Minsk process.
The President of Ukraine continues to demonstrate not only on the domestic media, but also to the international community, how originally he takes his commitments under the documents approved by the guarantor countries and the UN Security Council. In particular, Mr. Zelensky almost proudly acknowledges the fact that he is ready to easily refuse to implement the Complex of Measures, which is an act of international law, as he allegedly does not want to waste all 5 years of his presidential term on its implementation. At the same time, it is hard to understand what, according to the Ukrainian leader, may be more important than reestablishing peace.
However, it is up to the Ukrainian President to decide how to do his work in the high office. If Zelensky really wants peace, he has such an opportunity: he just needs to stop making ridiculous excuses and finally start implementing the Minsk Agreements in good faith, unconditionally, strictly and literally in coordination with representatives of the republics. In particular, the basis for the implementation of these agreements is the work on legal aspects of the special status of Donbass, including its enshrinement in the constitution, which Zelensky personally reaffirmed at the summit of the Normandy Four.
But if the current president favors the path of armed confrontation and the aggressive rhetoric like his predecessor Poroshenko, who tried to make the Russian Federation a party to the conflict so as not to negotiate with the republics, we are ready for such an option. But in this case, Kiev should already now realize the consequences and prepare, firstly, for the fact that the republics are able to respond to any provocation from Ukraine in kind, and secondly, for the inevitable burden of responsibility before the guarantor countries for thwarting the Minsk process. And we will keep on the path that the people of Donbass chose and has been actively implemented for 6 years now.
