The Federation Council has approved amendments to the law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation” regarding the recognition of citizens of Ukraine and Belarus as native speakers of the Russian language without passing the corresponding exam. Head of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement’s Central Executive Committee Alexei Muratov commented on this development.

“That not only simplifies the procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship, but also serves as a strong signal in Russia’s targeted policy to restore friendly ties between the fraternal peoples of the Russian World.

A tragic event occurred about three decades ago when the criminal conspiracy of Western puppets led to the collapse of our Great Homeland. This created unnatural frontiers in the common cultural space, divided friends and relatives, brought weakness in all aspects: political, economic, social and others.

Moreover, for many countries of the post-Soviet space, the West’s subversive actions led to nationalists’ revival and power assumption, persecution and oppression of the Russian-speaking population, all those who oppose their de-Russification policy, distortion of historical memory, and violation of cultural values. In a number of cases, this turned into bloody conflicts, as it happened with Donbass. Fortunately, in the 21st century, the Russian Federation has managed to shift its geopolitical course and regain the status of the anchor, the integration point of the Russian World.

Having risen against the Kiev coup conducted by right-wing radicals in 2014, Donbass people made their civilizational choice, defended it, and are now confidently pursuing the course of integration with Russia. The possibility of acquiring Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure has become an important milestone on this path for residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

As we can see, the Russian Federation continues to implement a policy to unite fellow citizens, all those who value and cherish the ideas of the Russian World, those who feel their unity with it. And no miserable efforts of Zelensky, Poroshenko and other Western henchmen will interfere with this process. I believe that the historical mistake made thirty years ago will be overcome, and all of us, fraternal peoples, will be able to live together again, in unity and friendship, mutual support and prosperity,” Muratov said.
