Among the issues of greatest concern to our citizens is the celebration of Victory Day and Republic Day amid the high readiness regime. During the meeting with the mayors of cities, towns and districts, which took place on April 16 via videoconference, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin clarified the situation taking into account the current circumstances.

“To date, due to the high readiness regime and the epidemiological situation in the Republic, mass events have been cancelled. Of course, these circumstances make us reconsider the format of celebrating our main popular holidays: Victory Day and Republic Day. Much depends on how the situation will evolve in the future,” Denis Pushilin said.

The Head of State also added that the final decision would be made later, towards the significant dates. At the same time, he stressed that the holidays should be celebrated properly.

“Veterans of the Great Patriotic War will get a one-off payment in the amount of 75,000 rubles for the 75th anniversary of the Victory. The corresponding decree has already been signed,” Denis Pushilin informed.

Also, it has been instructed that territories of cities, towns and districts be improved and Eternal Flame operating systems located at memorials and monuments be fixed up. The administrations of Snezhnoye, Torez, Shakhtersk and the Amvrosiyevsky district are to arrange the work to improve the territory of the Saur-Mogila memorial complex by May 4.
