Giulietto Chiesa, a talented Italian journalist, writer, public figure and politician, passed away overnight into Sunday in the 80th year of his life.
On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Chiesa. His death is a great tragedy and loss not only for his family and friends, but also for all those who knew Mr. Chiesa as a professional, experienced journalist and driving force of independent Italian journalism.
Giulietto Chiesa was a great like-minded friend to the Donetsk People’s Republic. He repeatedly visited us on informational and humanitarian visits, actively supported the aspiration of our people to independence and made every effort to tell European countries the truth about what is happening in Donbass.
We will remember him as a bright, well-intentioned and truly stout-hearted man, who lived with dignity, valued and bravely defended the principles of humanity and notions of honor, justice, equality and freedom.
