The DPR Prosecutor General’s Office has filed criminal cases against AFU military and other paramilitary groups of Ukraine for attacking the Republic with artillery, mortars and small arms and for other serious and particularly grave crimes, the press service of the law enforcement agency reports.

It has been established that military of the armed forces of Ukraine and other paramilitary groups have launched 12,443 artillery and mortar attacks on the Republic since 2014 to the present day. The shelling killed 1,016 people, including 51 minors, 2,354 people suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity, including 140 minors. In addition, 8,688 movable and immovable assets have been destroyed or damaged, including 1,058 infrastructure facilities. Based on the criminal cases initiated, the damage caused by the actions of the AFU military personnel is estimated at 487 million 665 thousand 166 Russian rubles.

At present, military personnel of the paramilitary units of Ukraine have intensified their attacks on the territory and civilians of the Republic.

Thus, since early 2020 they have carried out 350 artillery and mortar attacks on the territory of the Republic, which resulted in three deaths, 18 people suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity, including three minors. A total of 276 movable and immovable assets, including 13 infrastructure facilities, have been destroyed.

The investigation established that 21 AFU commanders were involved in the commission of the abovementioned grave and especially grave crimes, along with military personnel who directly carried out the attacks. These commanders gave criminal orders to launch artillery and mortar attacks on civilians in the Republic, as well as orders to use small arms against the latter.

The DPR Prosecutor General’s Office has instituted criminal proceedings against the AFU commanders involved. A wanted notice has been issued for the absconding perpetrators.

However, punishment is inevitable and unavoidable for those guilty of the deaths, injuries and bodily harm to civilians and the destruction of houses and infrastructure in the Republic’s populated localities.

In confirmation of this, the Investigations Division of the Prosecutor General’s Office has taken 25 criminal cases to court against 26 AFU military for the commission or involvement in serious and particularly serious crimes against the residents of the Republic.

The guilt of the AFU military accused of committing the crimes under Article 232 (training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activity), Article 323 (forcible seizure of power) and other articles of the DPR Criminal Code has been fully evidenced by the court. All of them, with the exception of two military towards whom the court decided to take coercive medical measures in connection with their mental illness, are sentenced to various terms of imprisonment.
