The Investigations Division of the DPR Prosecutor General’s Office has opened six new criminal cases against commander of the 28th AFU separate mechanized brigade M.M. Marchenko and commander of the 54th separate mechanized brigade A.S. Maistrenko, as well as military personnel subordinate to them, for committing crimes under Article 229, Section 2 (a), (c) of the DPR Criminal Code, the agency’s press service reports.

The investigation established that on May 24, 2020, military personnel of the 28th separate mechanized brigade, by order of their commander Marchenko, launched fire on the urban-type village of Staromikhaylovka with large-caliber firearms, which resulted in damage to an electrical substation, Dnepropetrovskaya and Chkalova Streets were cut off power.

On May 22 and 24, 2020, military personnel of the 54th separate mechanized brigade, on the orders of their commander Maistrenko, attacked the town of Yasinovataya with mortars and firearms, windows and the roof of the houses at 23 and 25 Solnechnaya Street, as well as windows in the apartment number 14 at 1 Vatutina Street were damaged. Moreover, the house at 64 Stepnaya Street and premises of the poultry farm on Fabrichnaya Street were damaged during the attack on the village of Verkhnetoretskoye.

The prosecutor’s office is currently conducting the investigation.
