During the briefing in Donetsk, DPR Chief Sanitary Inspector Miroslava Romanchenko reported on anti-epidemic activities conducted in COVID-19 pestholes and on the process of laboratory testing for the coronavirus infection, a correspondent of the DPR Official Website reports.

“For the whole period since the coronavirus infection began to spread in the DPR territory, authorities of the DPR Health Ministry’s State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service have been monitoring exposed persons in COVID-19 pestholes. 10,307 people have contacted carriers of coronavirus in total.

As of 8 July, 9,272 people have been taken off monitoring. The remaining 1,035 people remain under observation.

To found all carriers of COVID-19 on time, the DPR Ministry of Health has been testing patients with community-acquired pneumonia since on February 6. To provide medical care to patients with this disease, specialized inpatient departments have been instituted by repurposing the healthcare institution.

The DPR Health Ministry’s sanitary and epidemiological authorities jointly with the Emergencies Ministry conduct final disinfection of COVID-19 pestholes at places of residence and work of patients,” Miroslava Romanchenko noted.

She stressed that it has been possible to slow down the rate of COVID-19 spread in the DPR thanks to the activities towards exposed persons and because patients with community-acquired pneumonia are isolated in a prompt manner.

“Today, in order to ensure the safety of the population of the Donetsk People’s Republic, we conduct testing for coronavirus. It allows revealing both the early stage of the disease and asymptomatic carriers. At present, there are several types of the testing, each has its own purposes. The test systems are made in Russia and highly precise,” Miroslava Romanchenko concluded.
