В ходе брифинга 3 августа заместитель командующего оперативным командованием ДНР, полковник Эдуард Басурин рассказал, что получена информация о тяжелом состоянии командира 36-й отдельной бригады морской пехоты Гнатова, который находится на лечении в 61-м военном госпитале с диагнозом «острый тромбофлебит правой нижней конечности».
«Мы не исключаем, что на самом деле эти диагнозы выдуманы подкупленными медиками с целью увольнения Гнатова по болезни. Эту же версию подтверждают и в штабе соединения, где считают, что столь скоропостижное заболевание комбрига связано с выявлением огромной недостачи в ходе проверки управлением морской пехоты ВСУ этого соединения, а также подготовкой представителями ООН доклада для Генассамблеи, где будет указано, что ведение огня по мирным населенным пунктам нашей Республики на Мариупольском направлении санкционировал Гнатов. Эту информацию представители ООН получили после общения с офицерами штаба соединения.
При любом из перечисленных вариантов факт отсутствия штатного командира на месте является предпосылкой к снижению морально-психологического состояния личного состава. Что, как следствие, влечет увеличение случаев нарушения воинской дисциплины среди них, употребления алкоголя и ведения беспорядочного огня по нашей территории», — отметил Эдуард Басурин.

“We do not rule out that in fact these diagnoses were invented by bribed medical personnel with the goal of dismissing Gnatov from service due to illness. The same version is confirmed at the headquarters of the unit, where they believe such a sudden illness of the brigade commander is connected with the detection of a huge shortage during the inspection by the AFUMarine Corps Directorate of this unit, as well as the preparation of a report by UN representatives to the General Assembly, where it will be stated that the conduct of fire on peaceful populated localities of our Republic in the Mariupol direction were authorized by Gnatov. The UN representatives received this information after communicating with the staff officers of the unit.
In any of the above options, the fact that there is no regular commander on the spot is a prerequisite to a decrease in the moral and psychological state of the personnel. That, as a consequence, entails an increase in the cases of violation of military discipline among them, alcohol consumption and the conduct of chaotic fire on our territory,” Eduard Basurin noted.
