On Wednesday of June 24, before the Victory Parade, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin awarded combat veterans of the Great Patriotic War with anniversary medals dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The awarding ceremony was also attended by members of the Young Guard-Yunarmiya Military Patriotic Movement.
25 veterans got the medals in total. Among the awardees there were Anna A. Akhtyamova, she took part in the liberation of Donbass and the onslaught of Berlin; Valentina M. Bolshakova, who fought for Donbass, Kherson, Nikolayev and Odessa; Andrei Gutsol, who fought against the Nazis for Stalingrad.
The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic thanked the veterans for their heroic feats, courage and bravery.
“Let me congratulate you on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. Three quarters of a century have passed since the Soviet people heroically defeated the fascist evil. It is precious to us, to future generations. Thank you so much for keeping the memory and passing it on to generations. This is something we could not have done without.
You are an integral part of the glory of our people. We bow low to you for what you are, for what you have done. Stay healthy. Enjoy communicating with your loved ones. It is an honor to present you with anniversary medals on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. Happy holiday!” Denis Pushilin addressed the veterans.
