The Ukrainian authorities once again demonstrate their neglect of the rights and freedoms of peaceful citizens. This is manifested by the use of methods of physical and psychological influence to obtain the necessary information, as well as pressure on supporters of the DPR through the persecution of their relatives living in the territory of Ukraine. Such actions on the part of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies nullify any attempts to reconcile the parties to the conflict.
A DPR supporter, Aleksey Dymarchuk, born in 1984, addressed the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Donetsk People’s Republic with a request to provide legal protection and assistance in ensuring the safety of his relatives. The applicant pointed out that SBU officers exerted psychological pressure on his family members. His mother, father, sister, son and ex-spouse are at risk of unlawful persecution.
In order to ensure the safety of Aleksey Dymarchuk’s relatives, I sent letters to the ICRC and the OSCE.
We call on the international organizations to make a proper legal assessment of the actions of representatives of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. We remind you that this is not the first case of illegal methods of influence being used against DPR supporters’ relatives living in the territory of Ukraine.
