International legal organizations have been increasingly paying attention to human rights violations in Ukraine. Citizens of the neighboring state suffer from the lack of security, injustice and humiliation of dignity. Commissioner for Human Rights in the Donetsk People’s Republic Daria Morozova spoke in more detail about this.
“I constantly browse news feeds of Ukrainian media outlets, as well as official websites of various bodies, and I can say that the situation about observance of human rights in Ukraine has only been getting worse year by year. Complete lawlessness, big problems in the Ukrainian judicial system — all this makes citizens feel vulnerable in their own state,” Daria Morozova said.
The Ombudsperson stated that the Ukrainian authorities themselves let lawlessness flourish, if you recall at the same time the situation about the withdrawal of forces and weapons.
“The members of the nationalist battalions came to the delimitation line and gave orders to the military personnel of the armed forces of Ukraine. And they never were prosecuted for that,” Daria Morozova noted.
In addition, to date, not a single high-profile case in Ukraine, such as the killing of Oles Buzina, has been investigated. And this causes concern not only in the DPR and LPR, but also among representatives of international organizations.
“Vladimir Zelensky needs to use the existing legislation. First, they should sort out things in Ukraine, only may then they try to teach us something,” Daria Morozova summed up.
