A celebratory event, dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the DPR People’s Militia, was held at the Center for Slavic Culture in Donetsk today, on November 12. According to the correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin congratulated the military on this event.
“Comrade military men! Dear friends!
I congratulate you on the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Directorate of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic!
Ever since the proclamation of our state, we have been forced to provide for the defense of Donbass from the Ukrainian aggression in the most complicated conditions of acute military confrontation. Ordinary people — workers, miners, entrepreneurs — all those who cared about the fate of their native land, stood up to defend the independence of the Republic. On the basis of loosely assembled units of the People’s Militia on November 12, 2014, there was created a well-coordinated, combat-ready body capable of repelling external threats and ensuring the effective protection of our borders.
You are well out of many victorious battles. I am sure that you will continue to carry out with honour any combat missions for the ideals and goals that we set for ourselves in 2014, for the comrades who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of their people, for the memory of our ancestors and for the happy and free life of our children and grandchildren.
Your military path is an example of serving the Homeland and the people, an example of honour, courage, and heroism. Sparing neither effort nor your lives, you have been and are still defending our land from the adversary. Thanks to you, the Donetsk People’s Republic is alive and well. Thank you for that!” Denis Pushilin said.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the DPR People’s Militia, the Head of the Republic supported the initiative of the People’s Militia Command to commemorate the Heroes of the Donetsk People’s Republic by assigning their names to a number of objects of the social and cultural sphere.
“We are proud of our heroes. And our duty is to make our future generations proud of them,” Denis Pushilin said.
For military merits and the impeccable performance of military duty, a number of servicemen of the DPR People’s Militia were awarded state awards. Following the end of the ceremony, there was held a celebration concert with the participation of the best performers of our Republic.
