Igor Antipov, the Minister of Information of the Donetsk People’s Republic, received citizens in the Kalininsky district of Donetsk as part of the activities of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement’s Public Reception Office.
During the meeting, there were considered issues related to the information policy in the Republic.Thus, Donetsk citizens were interested whether in the possibility of creating a children’s TV channel, countering fake information, and the legal framework regarding information security.
Igor Antipov spoke in detail about the legislative framework in the DPR, the main articles of the Law “On Mass Media”, establishing state guarantees of their freedom and protecting the rights of journalists. He focused on the future plans of the Information Ministry to amend the Law “On Mass Media” and bring it into line with the modern society needs.
The Minister of Information also addressed the peculiarities of the Ukrainian propaganda activities, spoke about the main methods of influencing public consciousness and emphasized the necessity to verify information received from unreliable sources. He drew attention of those present to the fact that there are no legislative restrictions on the blogosphere regarding information dissemination; therefore, citizens’ personal consciousness in improving media literacy is of utmost importance.
