The DPR People’s Council has a special role in the integration process — Council’s Chairperson

The vigorous activity of the DPR People’s Council on the implementation of the integration processes between Donbass and the Russian Federation was the subject of the report by the Deputy Chairperson of the People’s Council, Olga Makeyeva. According to the correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the report was presented during the round table on Results and Prospects of the Integration Processes between Donbass and Russia in Donetsk today, on December 10.

“I would like to focus on this. On March 1, 2019, Decree of the Head of the DPR No. 56 approved the Foreign Policy Concept of the Donetsk People’s Republic. This concept is the main document that contains the priorities, goals, objectives and main vectors of the Republic’s foreign policy, as well as mechanisms for its implementation.

The main priority of the DPR’s foreign policy activities is the development of friendly relations with the Russian Federation. The key priority is participation in integration processes.

Within the framework of this Concept, the DPR People’s Council has a special role, according to which the parliament is conducting legislative work with a view to the practical implementation of the provisions of the Foreign Policy Concept. Given such an onerous task, the People’s Council of the DPR is actively working with the parliament of the Lugansk People’s Republic and individual regional legislative assemblies of the Russian Federation. For example, in the framework of interaction with the LPR People’s Council, the legislative bases are being actively synchronized and the new laws are being jointly drafted.

It is also worth noting the signed agreement on cooperation between the State Council of the Republic of Crimea and the People’s Council of the DPR. This agreement has really become a historical event, as it is the first and so far the only agreement with the parliament of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation on inter-parliamentary cooperation,” Olga Makeyeva said.

In addition, the Deputy Chairperson of the People’s Council spoke in detail about the work carried out by the Republic’s Parliament with the legislative assemblies of certain regions of the Russian Federation, in the course of which there are held counsultations on many issues.
