Another public statement by Zelensky runs completely counter to the agreements reached by the leaders of the four states in Paris, and is contrary to the Minsk agreements.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has already made it clear, and we have already said it many times, but if the Ukrainian President is so slow on the uptake, we repeat once again: Kiev will not gain any control over the border between the Republics and Russia.
Such a hysterical desire of Ukrainian politicians to amend the signed documents only indicates that Zelensky does not control the situation in the country and is afraid of his “opponents” who are ready to arrange another “Maidan” at any time. This fear drives the Ukrainian President to talk through clearly absurd theses that contradict each other in the same speech: we are complying with the Minsk agreements, and they cannot be implemented.
Until Ukraine ceases attempts to evade its obligations, there will be no constructive solution to the conflict. And by his statements on amending the agreements, Zelensky simply stifles the efforts of the guarantor countries’ leaders not only at the December 9 meeting, but also over the past five years.
