“The war has made its adjustments, many exhibits have been irretrievably lost, but, nevertheless, the authorities of our department initiated the process which helped find the opportunity to reopen this museum. The exhibits of labour glory of both enterprises are presented here, where the names of those persons who directly participated in the achievement of labour records have been immortalized,” the Acting Director of the Coal Industry Department of the DPR Ministry of Coal and Energy, Vladislav Agarkov, emphasized.

In turn, Chairman of the Chelyuskintsev Mine’s Trade Union Committee Evgeny Sidorenko spoke about the history of the formation and development of the Museum of Miners’ Glory.

“The Museum was conceived back in the late 60s. Workers of enterprises brought their memorable things and awards. At the end of August of 1972, the Hero of Socialist Labor and the director of the Trudovskaya mine, Vladislav Antipov, handed the workers a key as a symbol of the Museum’s opening.

Over the entire period of its existence, the museum has been visited by more than 200 foreign delegations and a vast number of citizens. Today, after almost five years, the second opening of the Museum of Miners’ Glory took place. At the moment there are more than five thousand exhibits,” he said.

After the grand opening, the first highlight tour was held for the audience.

In addition, in the newly opened Museum, the 1st degree Miner’s Glory badge was awarded to labour veteran Viktor Tkachenko, who worked at the Mine named after Chelyuskintsev more than 30 years and went from being a rank-and-file worker to being a site supervisor.
