Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin congratulated officers and veterans of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief on their professional holiday, Rescuer’s Day. The Center for Slavic Culture hosted a ceremonial meeting on this occasion today, on December 27, a correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic reports.
“Being a rescuer is a calling. This is a difficult, dangerous, but very noble and important profession. For the sake of saving people, you risk your own life. Only strong, brave and courageous people like you are capable of this.
Thanks to you, over the lifetime of the DPR Ministry of Emergency Situations, about 5 thousand lives have been saved, 1,800 this year alone. In the most dangerous situations, you come to the rescue of everyone who is in trouble, and each of you rightfully deserves universal respect. You bear a huge burden of responsibility, what you do with honor and dignity. I express my deep gratitude and appreciation for your service and loyalty to the duty. I wish you and your families good health, happiness, peace and prosperity. Happy holiday!” Denis Pushilin said.
For their personal merits and high professional level, the Head of the Republic awarded medals and commendations to outstanding rescuers.
The chiefs of ministries and agencies of the DPR, delegations from the Russian Federation, the LPR and South Ossetia attended the event.
Since the founding of the Ministry, its officers have saved more than 5 thousand people, neutralized 108 emergencies, put out more than 32 thousand fires, disposed more than 112 thousand explosive items.
The DPR Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, General Lieutenant of Civil Defense Aleksey Kostrubitsky thanked the guests for their attention and thanked his colleagues for their loyalty to the civil defense.
“Being a rescuer is complex, hard, and at the same time honorable profession. Sometimes, when saving a human life, a rescuer risks his own. Therefore, it is also a calling of the heart. On our holiday, I wish all rescuers good health, peaceful skies, good luck and love in your families,” Aleksey Kostrubitsky said.
Note that Rescuer’s Day was declared by Decree of First Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko and is celebrated annually on December 27.
