Next year, Donetsk residents will be able to see real work on the renovation of the Youth Palace Yunost and the Ice Palace Druzhba, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin announced on December 26 during the call-in show, answering a question televised live from Lenin Square.
“For Donetsk, these facilities are important! We miss them, and we will use them for their intended purpose. Work on them is ongoing: estimate documentation is being drawn up. I think this work will have been tangible already that next. A working group has been formed for both facilities. We are waiting, supervising, but we won’t manage to do it in a couple of months,” he said.
The Head of the Republic noted that it is necessary to overhaul the Youth Palace Yunost so that it fits the name that it will have, Hero of the DPR, People’s Artist of the USSR Iosif Kobzon.
“As for Druzhba, hockey, other sports and events that can be held in this facility are important to us,” Denis Pushilin noted.
Recall that the Youth Palace Yunost was seriously damaged by Ukrainian artillery in August 2014, and in the Sports Ice Palace Druzhba a fire occurred in the same year, after which it stopped operating.
