Today, on January 24, thousands of citizens from Gorlovka and other towns paid the last tribute to Nikita Fokin. The 20-year-old defender of the Republic was killed by a Ukrainian sniper on Wednesday of January 22 during the attack on People’s Militia positions near Dolomitnoye. According to a correspondent of the Official Website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Epiphany Cathedral of Gorlovka held the farewell ceremony. Then the coffin with the body was brought to the Central City Cemetery, where the mourning rally took place.
Head of DPR Denis Pushilin attended the mourning rally. He paid homage to the fallen defender of the Motherland and expressed his profound condolences to the family and friends.
“Today we are laying to rest Nikita Fokin, a real warrior and hero, who was only twenty years old. Thinking of this age, you realize the injustice of this war. He would have lived, learned, had a family and children, if it were not for the vile war.
The cynicism of war resides in the fact that they talk a lot about peace, ceasefire… But, no. We lose the best ones. We lose them not just by some ridiculous accident, but because someone gives criminal orders, then someone fulfils them. We know the names of the guilty and the killers. Neither Zelensky nor his henchmen will escape justice. We will do our best to do so. No bloody crime will go unanswered! This is our direct responsibility.
Nikita was a true descendant of the victorious great-grandfathers, who did not stand aside. He went to defend his hometown, his land, his loved ones. We will do our best to perpetuate his memory. The state will provide all necessary help.
We must win. So that such cases never happen in our lives. So that our children can study, go forward and create in peace. We will make it by all means!
Eternal memory!” Denis Pushilin said.
To the volleys of gun salute, the coffin with the fallen defender of the Republic was buried.
Note that all these events happened against the background of the “international tours” of Ukrainian president Zelensky, where he talks with passion about his peacekeeping mission and his desire to end the combat activities in Donbass.
