While the Donetsk People’s Republic had reaffirmed and complied with all the necessary procedures for eight persons detained in our territory to be exchanged, Kiev official have not taken any reciprocal steps, Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR Daria Morozova stated.
“Representatives of Ukraine, under various pretexts, never got round to give consent to the exchange in the format previously agreed by the parties. Thus, we regret to report that another stage of the detainees’ swap has been disrupted solely through the fault of Ukraine.
It once again strikes me to see the cynicism of Kiev, representatives of which so often come to power under the slogans saying how important it is returning the detained persons home, and then, having achieved what they want, they are ready to give up their people so easily.
For this reason, for the first time in our practice of exchanges, we have published the lists of Ukrainian criminals, whom our party is ready to swap for our citizens. The Ukrainian people have the right to know the names of those abandoned by the politicians they had chosen.
In addition, out of humanitarian considerations, the DPR authorities are ready to arrange the admission of relatives living in Ukraine to the eight detainees.
I would like to once again urge Kiev to reconsider its attitude and policy of fulfilling the obligations undertaken. Such inaction and neglect of people do not bring us closer to peace, nor do they contribute to further dialogues to resolve important issues,” the Ombudsperson emphasized.
