Катастрофа на Чернобыльской АЭС – страшное событие, которое отразилось на всех, кто жил в те годы. И его отголоски еще долго будут звучать на нашей земле.
По Донбассу Чернобыль ударил особенно сильно. Тысячи наших земляков добровольцами поехали ликвидировать последствия аварии. Поехали не за деньгами, не за славой, понимая, что это опасно. Поехали – потому что так было нужно. Так велел долг.
Кроме шахтеров из Донбасса в Чернобыль для ликвидации последствий аварии отправились военные, инженеры, даже музыканты и театральные коллективы. Все – добровольцы.
Это отличительная черта донбасского характера – верность долгу и стремление доводить любое дело до конца. Если принял решение, если считаешь, что так нужно – не отступишь никогда.
В Донецкой Народной Республике помнят подвиг героев-ликвидаторов аварии на ЧАЭС и ценят его. Да, сейчас сложно. Но государство делает все возможное, чтобы герои-ликвидаторы, герои-чернобыльцы были обеспечены максимальной социальной защитой.
Вы – действительно герои, ваш подвиг останется в веках.

The catastrophe at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was a terrible incident that affected all those who lived in those years. And its echoes will long be heard in our land.
Chernobyl hurt Donbass especially hard. Thousands of our fellow countrymen volunteered to eliminate the consequences of the accident. They went neither for money, nor for fame, realizing that it was dangerous. They went because it was necessary. They answered the call of duty.
Besides the coalminers from Donbass, the military, engineers, even musicians and theatrical groups went to Chernobyl to eliminate the consequences of the accident. All of them volunteered.
This is a distinctive feature of the Donbass temper — loyalty to duty and aspiration to get the job done. If you make a decision, if you think that it is necessary, you will never back down.
The Donetsk People’s Republic remembers the feat of the heroes, the clean-up veterans of the Chernobyl accident, and appreciate it. Yes, it is difficult now. But the state is doing everything possible so that the heroic clean-up veterans, the Chernobyl heroes, are provided with maximum social protection.
You are truly heroes, your feat will remain for centuries.
