Today, on December 12, general directed of the Republic Folk Art and Cinema House Maxim Romanovsky held a briefing on the results of the DPR delegation’s participation in the International Children’s and Youth Circus Art Festival named “Circus of Our Childhood”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of state-run circuses in Russia.

“The festival lasted from December 3 to 8 in Yekaterinburg (Russia), and was attended by amateur circus teams, schools, performers and studios, its participants aged 5 to 18. Artists from Russia, Spain, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Germany, Chile, Cuba, and Argentina performed 135 circus acts at the festival.

The Donetsk People’s Republic was represented by Vladimir Naboka, an aerial artist, who is a trainee of the Arabesques circus masterclass ensemble of Telmanovsky District’s House of Culture. By using aerial straps, he performed a circus act named “The Dream of the Flight” in the age category between 14 and 18 years and won the third place, and was also awarded a 3rd-class laureate diploma and a bronze medal.

In addition, an act named “The Duo on the Straps” performed by Milana Verzilova and Sergey Shumilo, trainees of the Rainbow circus ensemble from Donetsk Arts School 1, in the age group between 10 and 13 years won the first place and were awarded a 1st-class laureate diploma and a gold award,” Maxim Romanovsky said.

He also noted that the acts performed by representatives of the Donetsk People’s Republic were highly assessed by the jury comprising representatives of Russia, Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany and the DPR.
