Children from the Khartsyzsk Social Center visited the Donetsk Museum of Military and Labor Glory of Donbass affiliated with the Afghanistan Veterans’ Union of the Donetsk People’s Republic today, on January 16. According to a correspondent of the DPR Official Website, 27 wards of the institution were acquainted with the museum exhibits.
The event was organized by Eleonora Fedorenko, Advisor for Child’s Rights to the Head, with the assistance of Mayor of Khartsyzsk Viktoria Zhukova and the director of the museum, member of the Public Chamber Roman Evstifeyev.
A tour for the wards of the Children’s Social Center was conducted by members of the Young Guard — Yunarmiya Military Patriotic Movement. The children visited the hall dedicated to the heroic deeds of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the hall of the Afghan war and other armed conflicts, the hall of labor glory dedicated to the labor feats of Donbass, the hall of memory, as well as the hall of the armed aggression of Ukraine, dedicated to events happening in Donbass.
It is noteworthy that the museum was founded in 2008 and continues to replenish its stock with new exhibits thanks to non- indifferent citizens.
Also as part of the event, children attended a film screening, which featured a series of films about the military history of the Russian people from 1941 to the present day.
In addition, during the meeting, the children gave Advisor for Child’s Rights to the Head Eleonora Fedorenko a picture painted by wards of the Center as a present.
According to the Advisor to the Head, she visited the museum for the first time in 2015, during the period of active hostilities in Donbass, and the exhibits made a lasting impression on her.
“The museum has a hall where the exhibits represent all the tragic events of the war in Donbass. Children should know the history of their people and be proud of it. Today, our fathers, brothers and sons again stand up for the defense of the Motherland, and it is very important that the younger generation understands the significance of their feat. It is up to us that our children grow up worthy citizens of the Republic,” Eleonora Fedorenko said.
According to Mayor of Khartsyzsk Viktoria Zhukova, the exhibits of the museum stirred great interest among children.
“They liked the museum, it made a great impression on them. Some halls can make you weep, because here each exhibit touches to the heart. You need to know the history of your people, keep it and in no way rewrite it. Everyone loves their home, their land, their Motherland, our children love the Donetsk People’s Republic. And it is very important that they are proud of their country, know its history, and convey this knowledge, in their turn, to the new generation,” Viktoria Zhukova commented.
In turn, the director of the Museum, member of the DPR Public Chamber Roman Yevstifeyev noted that this visit was the first event from a series of planned visits to the Museum of Military and Labor Glory of Donbass, organized for children of the Republic.
