At the political group’s last meeting, the representatives of the Republic found out that the Ukrainian side did not understand the importance of implementing the political items strictly in the sequence and in the way they are set out by the Complex of Measures, Minister of Foreign Affairs and DPR envoy to the talks in Minsk Natalya Nikonorova commented on the outcome of the meeting.
“On the days preceding the meeting in Minsk and during the meeting itself, the Ukrainian negotiators were expressing some amateur interpretations of the Complex of Measures, they were calling for changing their sequence. Ukraine tries to persuade us that the Minsk Agreements are impracticable allegedly in their original form, therefore they want to make some corrections in Kiev’s favor. However, all such statements are completely absurd and prove nothing but the desire of the Ukrainian leadership to sabotage its commitments under the Complex of Measures,” Natalya Nikonorova noted.
The DPR envoy urged the representatives of Ukraine not to waste time on destructive activities, but focus on the substantive implementation of the current political agenda in the Minsk process.
“I would like to draw your attention once again to the fact that now it is very important within the framework of the Minsk venue to finally start implementing those instructions and obligations that are set out in the final communique of the Normandy Four, particularly a constructive discussion on all legal aspects of the special status of Donbass. The foundation of this work should involve elaborating and agreeing with us on all the necessary amendments to the law on the special status of Donbass, while at the same time it is necessary to work on the adjustment of the resulting laws, regulations thereunder and agreements, and necessarily the most important parameter — amendments to the Constitution, which will enshrine all the above aspects of the special status,” Nikonorova added.
