Roman Kishkan, Сhairman of the State Committee for Ecological Policy under the DPR Head, today, held an interagency meeting today, at the House of Nature, to discuss the draft structure of a strategy for managing waste production and consumption in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the press service of the agency reports.
Representatives of the Construction and Housing Ministry, the Industry and Trade Ministry and the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the DPR Health Ministry, generally approved the proposals put forward by environmentalists. Having determined the functions of each of the document developers, the meeting participants outlined a plan for immediate actions, in particular, the formation of a working group, and agreed on high-quality interaction and regular information exchange.
As will be recalled, the main goal of the strategy is to create an environmentally friendly system for managing waste production and consumption in the Republic. First and foremost, it is about the establishment and development of facilities for sorting, processing, use, deactivation and disposal of waste (including the introduction of a separate waste collection system and the construction of waste recycling complexes), the arrangement of safe conditions for waste dumping (storage and disposal), as well as ensuring elimination of accumulated damage (reclamation of waste dumps, solid waste landfills, etc.). The implementation of the strategy involves the period from 2020 to 2030.
