During the October 30 meeting of the group on political issues, the Ukrainian side was seeking to move away from constructive dialogue on the implementation of their commitments in accordance with the Minsk Agreements. The DPR Foreign Affairs Ministry’s press service reports.
“Representatives of the Ukrainian side to the group for political issues today demonstrated us new ways to evade the responsibility for the fulfilment of the corresponding part of the Complex of Measures. In addition to their attempts to substitute the concept of special status with the idea of ‘decentralization’, the representatives of Kiev evaded a straight question about the prolongation of the law on the special status of Donbass and the implementation of Steinmeier’s formula, which has already been agreed in Minsk, into Ukrainian legislation. However, the Ukrainian representative to the Trilateral Contact Group assured us that this issue was under control and they were aware of the problem,” DPR Plenipotentiary Natalya Nikonorova explained.
According to her, the entry-into-force of the law on the special status of Donbass and its entrenchment in the constitution should not be a matter of argument, since this is Ukraine’s obligation enshrined in the Resolution of the UN Security Council. These are the priority issues on the political group’s agenda. By delaying this process, Kiev demonstrates its disrespect for not only the peace talks, but also the respective international institutions.
The DPR Plenipotentiary Representative once again focused on the fact that it is possible to achieve results on the political track only in dialogue mode with representatives of the Republic, and, at the same time, in strict compliance with the procedure and logic for the implementation of items documented in the Complex of Measures.
