On November 4th, the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. B. Solovyanenko hosted a ceremonial event on the occasion of National Unity Day. According to a correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, this holiday symbolizes the unity of our people, its ability to unite in a difficult period.

“Dear fellow countrymen! I wholeheartedly congratulate you on National Unity Day!

Donbass has always been famous for the fact that representatives of more than 100 nationalities inhabit it. Each of them has its own culture, faith and religion, customs and traditions. But what is unites us is the common heroic past and love for the Fatherland.

National Unity Day gives us the opportunity to find ourselves as a united people that has one historical destiny and common future. In turning points, the unity has repeatedly helped us to defend the freedom and independence of the Homeland. In 2014, united by one idea, we stood up for the interests of the residents of our land, having showed the world our cohesion and constancy to purpose.

Now our common task is to preserve and multiply our heritage, to follow the chosen path along with the people of Russia. Only in harmony, unity and adherence to the traditions of mutual respect, friendship and mutual help we can achieve a stable and dynamic development of the Republic, a calm and peaceful life of the citizens.

I sincerely wish you good health, prosperity, peace and welfare, new labor successes for the good of the Homeland! Happy holiday!” Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin congratulated the residents of Donetsk.

The festive concert program dedicated to National Unity Day featured folk and classical music performed by soloists from the Donetsk State Academic Music and Drama Theater named after M. Brovun, Donetsk State Academic Philharmonic Society, Honored State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Donbass, Folk Ensemble of Greek Song and Dance Panair and others.

We remind that the DPR has celebrated National Unity Day since 2015. And since 2018, in accordance with the DPR Head’s Decree 136, it has become a public holiday.
