Social services of the Donetsk People’s Republic found out about a 76-year-old man who remained all alone after his wife’s death. Anatoly Smirnov was taken to the Central Clinical Hospital 1, where they provided him with the necessary assistance. At the moment, a social worker has been attached to the man and the process is ongoing to restore his documents for further stationing in a special institution for single elderly people.

“We learned about the situation from the Internet. Social services of the city responded promptly. First of all, an ambulance team was called and all social services joined in. The man was taken to a medical institution in the city,” deputy head of Voroshilovsky District of Donetsk Tatyana Kopylova clarified.

In turn, Natalya Surovtseva, the head of the Therapeutic Department of the Central Clinical Hospital 1 in Donetsk, said that the man had undergone all the necessary tests, a full examination and received qualified medical care. At the moment, the patient’s vital indications are normal.

“We have attached an employee to Anatoly Smirnov. He will be controlling the performance of all required measures and rules in accordance with the DPR legislation, and will provide the necessary assistance for the execution of documents and will help arrange for the man’s stay in the relevant social institution. Such cases are identified and reported by citizens personally, or through the observations and work of social services,” said Lyudmila Komina, the chief of the Labor and Social Protection Department in Voroshilovsky District.

Tatyana Shevkun, the director of the Local Social Service Center in Voroshilovsky District, emphasized that anyone could help single people by calling the city administration’s hotline number or contacting a local social service center of your district.
