The results of yesterday’s voting on the draft resolution of the UN General Assembly, aimed at combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism, racism and other forms of xenophobia and intolerance, where the US and Ukraine did not support the resolution against Nazism, are cynical and demonstrative, Chief of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement’s Central Executive Committee Aleksey Muratov stated.
“Only two countries in the world — the US and Ukraine — have opposed the adoption of the concrete measures to counteract these dangerous phenomena, which have been recently gaining momentum around the world, along with the revision of the outcome of the Second World War, war crimes committed during it, and crimes against humanity.
The stance of the majority of European countries, which abstained from voting, is astonishing and arouses resentment. France, Poland, other Eastern European countries — the “brown plague” hit many millions of your citizens, didn’t it? And the neutrality of Germany, Italy and Japan — does it mean the hope for a revenge?
No one will be able to sit out the fight against the reviving fascism! The events in Ukraine became a vivid example of this. The double-dyed nationalism, which raised its head there in the last decades of the twentieth century and was nurtured by Western grants, has spread out like a cancerous tumor in the country. What did it lead to in the end? The coup, the collapse of the country and the protracted armed confrontation in the territory of Donbass.
Moreover, the situation in Ukraine has not changed after new president Zelensky came to power. Radical nationalists still run the show in the country, and it is they who form the domestic and foreign agenda. And yesterday’s voting in the UN General Assembly for combating the glorification of Nazism showed who gives them the widest support.
As we can see, Zelensky the actor has been managing the role of peace-loving president Goloborodko worse and worse with every passing day. It’s high time he came out with a statement like “I’m tired, I’m leaving…”. I think that such a speech of him will meet a storm of applause,” Aleksey Muratov stressed.
