The Minsk Agreements are the only possible mechanism to settle the conflict in Donbass, DPR People’s Council deputy Elena Shishkina commented so on the results of the Normandy Four’s summit.
“During the final press conference on the results of the Normandy format meeting, the President of the Russian Federation reminded all those present that it’s people who live in Donbass, they are forced to overcome the obstacles associated with the unresolved armed conflict every day. We are grateful to Vladimir Putin that he once again reminded Kiev of the value of human life and the need to improve the humanitarian situation, including the necessity to increase the number of checkpoints. For our part, we urge Mr. Zelensky to recall that he promised his voters to stop the bloodshed and respect human rights. He need to start taking responsibility for his own words and to clamp down on the political forces that are escalating the situation in Ukraine, inciting hatred and unwilling to stop the fratricidal war.
The Russian Federation, represented by its President Vladimir Putin, has been as firm as possible in its commitment to the Minsk Protocol and its consistent implementation of all items of the Complex of Measures. In turn, the summit showed that Kiev had not had new ideas other than those announced by the Ukrainian ex-leaders. Zelensky’s statements that the Minsk II items need to be reconsidered look immature politically.
