The Normandy Four leaders held a meeting in Paris on December 10 and signed a communiqué, the main paragraph of which was the provision by the parties to the conflict of a complete ceasefire by the end of 2019. Today, on December 13, in an exclusive interview with a correspondent of the DPR official website, Vice-Commander of the Operational Command Colonel Eduard Basurin commented on the situation in the Republic following its signature.
“Of course, it is very important for all residents of the Republic that the negotiations took place and the main issue raised at the meeting was the a complete ceasefire. I want to note that despite the fact that the number of attacks has decreased recently, the armed formations of Ukraine continue shelling the territory of the Republic with weapons various types, including heavy weapons.
To comply with the agreements signed, it is necessary to establish liability for violating of the ceasefire implying punishment for those soldiers who commit violations along the contact line,” Eduard Basurin commented.
He also stressed that the information war is ongoing in Ukraine, citizens undergo further pressure, and influence methods and rhetoric are getting changed and stepped up.
