On December 26, in the course of the live call-in show with Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, there was raised a question of the relevance of compliance with the Minsk Agreements, DPR representatives’ participation in the negotiation process and Ukraine’s inability to reach an agreement.
“I can see why such sentiments appear as a sufficient number of our citizens address me with this question. The point is that negotiations are always a tense moment, and many processes are separated from any media. And here we see only what can be referred to as a fait accompli.
As a participant in the process, I understand the challenges faced by our negotiators. At the same time, I want to emphasize that one has to negotiate — even with the enemy, in order to come to a solution to pressing issues. One of the acute issues that will be resolved in the coming days is the one of prisoners swap. We must be aware that if we had ceased the dialogue with Ukraine, our people who are languishing in their dungeons would not have returned home. This would be impossible. We understand what Ukraine and its negotiators are, but this is one of the vivid examples of why we have to negotiate.
We are ready to hold a dialogue and arrive at some compromising options, because it is needed for our citizens. Therefore, we will continue this process, gain ground and resort to the only international platform available thus far,” Denis Pushilin said.
