Today, on December 28, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin held a working meeting with the Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism, Alexander Gromakov. According to the correspondent of the official website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Head of State was interested in the results of the outgoing year in sport, the achievements of Donetsk athletes at international competitions, as well as the promotion of mass sports in the country and encouragement of young people to lead a healthy lifestyle.
“Despite all the difficulties associated with the admission of our athletes to official competitions at the international level, we are carrying out the necessary work that enables us to achieve this. We participate in international competitions, in non-Olympic sports for now, but there are other arrangements. For example, two weeks ago, our athlete Yekaterina Sereda entered the top eight at the Russian Swimming Championship. We have an excellent potential, and we will keep enhancing it,” Alexander Gromakov answered.
Along with that, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism recalled the success won by the DPR karate team at the international tournament in Japan.
As for the mass sports promotion and encouragement of young people to lead a healthy lifestyle, the Head of the Republic has come up with an initiative to open in all cities and districts as many sports sections as possible.
“Next year we plan to open many sports fields. It is a useful and necessary objective. Therefore, I would like to ask you to focus on sports sections for amateurs to be able to train. We need the number of such people to grow,” Denis Pushilin said.
