Representatives of the Public Chambers of the DPR and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra of the Russian Federation held a roundtable meeting in Donetsk. According to a correspondent of the DPR Official Website, the two Public Chambers were discussing the ways of effective interaction and implementation of joint projects at this meeting on January 9. This communication happened within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed on December 7 last year.

“It was agreed that representatives of the Public Chamber of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra visit our Republic. They have come to us to share experience. Also, as part of this delegation, representatives of the Victory Volunteers All-Russian Public Movement and the Humanitarian Volunteer Corps arrived in the Donetsk People’s Republic to establish cooperation with colleagues. The main function of the Public Chamber involves consolidating all public processes and promoting public initiatives,” Chairman of the DPR Public Chamber Alexander Kofman said.

Member of Yugra’s Public Chamber Eduard Loginov noted during the roundtable meeting that the cooperation between social activists of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and the Donetsk People’s Republic had begun back in 2014.

“We are pleased to see the leaders of public opinion of the Republic in the DPR Public Chamber. It so happened that Yugra became one of the main regions for the implementation of the program of integration of civil society and public organizations of the Russian Federation and the DPR,” he said.

According to member of Yugra’s Public Chamber Vladimir Merkushev, it is very important that the two Public Chambers have taken practical steps to implement the agreement on cooperation just a month after they signed it. “During our visit to Donetsk, we are going to tell how our Public Chamber works. I hope that the experience of Yugra will be of interest to DPR social activists because the Public Chamber of our region is considered one of the most proactive in the Russian Federation. We are engaged in public initiatives, as well as legislative initiatives. Some of our ongoing projects can be considered unique. We will be glad if our experience proves useful to Donetsk,” he emphasized.

Another member of the Public Chamber of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, the head of the Victory Volunteers All-Russian Public Movement’s Regional Headquarters Eka Shengelaya said that during the current trip to the DPR, they had met with veterans of the Great Patriotic War who live in Gorlovka, particularly in the frontline village of Zaytsevo.

“We congratulated the veterans on the New Year! Helping the elderly, especially veterans of the Great Patriotic War, is our sacred duty. We keep true historical facts about the Great Patriotic War. History must be conveyed to young people through modern methods (mind sport, quests). Jointly with DPR social activists, we have a great work ahead in the year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. We celebrate this holiday throughout the whole country, all together. It is important to cooperate to preserve the history and participate in key holiday events jointly,” she said.
