Zelensky’s words and promises are totally at odds with his actions. The peace he dreamed of at the beginning of the election race has never come. Attacks on the territory of our Republic have not ceased so far. Zelensky does not want to meet Donbass halfway or listen to his nation, DPR People’s Council deputy Elena Shishkina stated.
“If you remember the prisoner exchange, which took place in late December 2019, then Kiev took the liberty of changing the lists of detainees until the last day unilaterally, which fundamentally contradicts the decision made by the Normandy Four about the exchange based on the all-for-all formula. The exchange is only the first step, official Kiev must provide all documents proving the end of criminal proceedings against the people exchanged.
Proof of Zelensky’s unwillingness to reestablish peace in Donbass and finally implement the Minsk Agreements is also his new draft law on amending the Constitution of Ukraine, which does not contain any words about granting a special status to Donbass. On the contrary, it speaks of even greater centralization of power and strengthening of the president’s influence on local governments.
Moreover, Ukrainian foreign minister Vadim Pristaiko recently claimed that Ukraine would seek an alternative to the Complex of Measures if the elections were not held in Donbass in 2020 or the process of troop withdrawal is delayed. Has Kiev forgotten once again that it is the Minsk Agreements that are currently the only document approved by the UN Security Council’s resolution, and Ukraine is just obliged to implement this set of measures?
Zelensky lacks both political will and desire to settle the conflict in Donbass, and his actions only continue to alienate the republics and Ukraine. And the only thing he can do is to make false videos about the pseudo-unity of Ukraine hoping that someone will believe his next empty promises,” the parliamentarian stressed.
