Residents of Debaltsevo file lawsuits with the European Court of Human Rights, demanding that Ukraine compensate for the damage totaling 12.7 million rubles, Chairperson of the Public Commission for Assessing the Economic Damage Caused by Ukraine Anastasiya Butorkina reported on the outcome of the meeting.
“Today, the meeting considered appeals of residents living at 13 and 46 Lenina Street, Debaltsevo, whose apartments were damaged by hostilities in 2014 and 2015. As a result of direct shell hits and shell fragment hits, the basic bearing structures (roof slabs, wall panels, balcony slabs), window, balcony and door units, interior decoration, vital systems were damaged in most apartments,” Anastasiya Butorkina said.
Note that the damage caused to the residents of the apartment building 13 totals 6.9 million rubles. In its turn, the damage caused by Ukraine to the residents of the apartment building 46 makes 5.8 million rubles.
“Specialists have also assessed the damage caused to each of the apartments of the abovementioned houses. Damaged furniture, household appliances, dishes and other property of citizens are taken into account. Thus, the financial and physical damage caused to each apartment in the building 13 makes 1.4 million rubles. The damage caused by the AFU to each of the apartments in the building 46 makes 700 thousand rubles,” the chairperson of the public commission added.
The Public Commission for Assessing the Economic Damage Caused by Ukraine was instituted in November 2019 in Donetsk. An initiative group of DPR and LPR residents made the decision during a public meeting. 19 members joined the commission.
