Today, on January 29, the capital’s Museum of Great Patriotic War hosted an event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the liberation of Uglegorsk from the Ukrainian armed formations. According to a correspondent of the DPR Official Website, the main participants in the event were the veterans and military of the 3rd Guards Gorlovka Motorized Rifle Brigade, who were directly involved in storming the town.

During the event, a priest of the Orthodox Church served a short litany for the fallen warriors.

The participants in the event shared their memories and feelings. DPR First Deputy Minister for Information Daniil Bezsonov was among the guests as well.

Recall that Uglegorsk was liberated by DPR People’s Militia units as a result of the onslaught on January 29 and 30, 2015. The conquest of the town marked the beginning of the Uglegorsk-Debaltsevo operation, which resulted in the liberation of an important railway junction and Debaltsevo in February 2015.
