When commenting on the latest statements by the Ukrainian President, DPR People’s Council deputy Vladislav Berdichevsky noted that Ukraine and Poland are pushing themselves to the sidelines of European politics.
“Ukrainian radical nationalism is gradually falling out of fashion in Europe amid expanding economic and political ties with Russia. Therefore, statements by the leaders of Ukraine and Poland look extremely objectionable.
Zelensky and Duda agreed to restore the monument to accomplices of German fascism — UPA (the Ukrainian Insurgent Army) soldiers in Poland on the Monastyr mountain near the village of Verkhrat in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. A while back, unidentified people destroyed a memorial plaque on the grave of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army soldiers, and now they are going to restore it. This looks particularly blasphemous in view of the atrocities committed by Hitler’s accomplices from the UPA ranks in Poland. It is very doubtful that Polish citizens will appreciate this initiative and this action is unlikely to add popularity to President Duda.
For his part, while Zelensky is worshiping Bandera and his henchmen, honoring their memory and calling them heroes, he will remain in a marginal field and will not be taken seriously in global politics,” the parliamentarian emphasized.
