The DPR People’s Council reviewed the draft Water Code during today’s plenary meeting on February 7. According to the press service of the DPR People’s Council, the draft code was introduced by Chairman of the Committee for Natural Resources Management, Ecology and Subsoil Resources Yuri Pokintelitsa.
“The draft law is designed to codify the legislative and other regulatory acts governing the sphere of water relations, fills the gaps in the legal regulation of this field. The draft law defines the powers of executive authorities and local self-government bodies in the field of management and protection of water bodies, regulates the procedure and criteria for water management, as well as determines protective measures aimed at maintenance and reproduction of water resources,” Yuri Pokintelitsa said.
According to the deputy, passing the code will streamline and improve the system of water legislation, it will allow determining the order and conditions of rational management of water resources, their preservation and reproduction, which, in turn, will create a long-term basis for environmental security and socio-economic development of the Republic.
